According to the National Center for Biomodels (NCB),
1. NUDE mice have abnormal hair keratinization function, but they still have incompletely keratinized hair growth. Small fine hairs still appear on the skin of some areas of the body. This is a normal phenomenon and does not affect the experiment.
2. Some NUDE mice will begin to grow sparse, short hairs on their backs at 5 weeks of age, which will disappear around 8-9 weeks of age. However, some literature indicates that these fine hairs can still exist up to 4 months of age.
